Cache

Cache, Oklahoma, with a population of roughly 3,000 residents, is located just 4 miles west of Lawton and is on the southwest side of Fort Sill. Cache was named for the nearby West Cache Creek, and was founded in 1901 after the land lottery, which opened the Kiowa/Comanche/Apache Reservation to general settlement, but was not fully approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior until December 1909. Cache is also known as the Gateway to the Wichitas, because of its proximity south of the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge.
