Medicine Park

The community of Medicine Park, Oklahoma, is at the main entry point to the Wichita Mountain Wildlife Refuge and was founded in 1908 as the first resort-town of Oklahoma. Many of the retail and lodging buildings in this quaint town are made up of stacked and mortared cobblestones, which is a style of architecture unique to this area of Oklahoma, and only found in a few other places across the country. Medicine Park is a resort-style community that hosts five music festivals each year, including wildly popular festivals featuring blue-grass music and rock & roll. There are also shops that run along Medicine Creek, two art galleries, a few restaurants, an ice cream and candy store, bakery, as well as the "swimmin' hole" at Bath Lake.

Medicine Park was founded in 1908 by John William Elmer Thomas.
